The Mets beat the Braves 3-0 on Saturday night as Pete Alonso hit his 53rd home run of the season to set a new MLB record for home runs by a rookie. He became just the ninth player in NL history to hit at least 53 home runs in a single season. Steven Matz pitched well in his final start of the year, throwing six shutout innings and allowing just two hits. The lefty struck out seven, and got his 11th win of the season, finishing with a 4.21 ERA. Rene Rivera hit his first home run of the season to give the Mets an early 2-0 lead.

Who is starting for the Mets?
RHP Noah Syndergaard (10-8, 4.30 ERA) has gone 2-2 in last seven games with a 6.14 ERA over 36.2 innings. He earned a no-decision in his last outing on Sept. 24 against the Miami Marlins, lasting just five innings after allowing four earned runs and a season-high 10 hits. Syndergaard's last win came on Sept. 2 against the Washington Nationals, where he threw seven scoreless innings and allowed only three hits.
Who is starting for the Braves?
RHP Mike Soroka (13-4, 2.60 ERA) is looking to continue his strong season, as he is 5-3 in his last 15 games with a 3.05 ERA and 72 strikeouts over 91.1 innings. Soroka threw five innings in his last stat on Sept. 19 against the Philadelphia Phillies, allowing two earned runs and striking out five in the win. He's expected to start Game 3 of the NLDS and will likely be on a pitch count vs. the Mets.
