If you're eager to see Mets prospect Peter Alonso, you can watch him play on Sunday, July 15 in the Futures Game -- taking place during All-Star Sunday prior to the All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 17.
The 23-year-old Alonso was recently promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas, where he is hitting .203/.356/.407 with three homers, three doubles, and 15 RBI in 16 games.
Alonso battered pitching at Double-A Binghamton before his promotion, hitting .314/.440/.573 with 15 homers. MLB prospects expert Jim Callis went as far to say that he may well be the league's top first base prospect.
"Alonso has posted impressive power numbers since signing as a second-round pick in 2016, already has reached Triple-A and can make a case for being the best first base prospect in baseball," Callis said, via Michael Mayer.
A "pretty strong source" recently told Mets radio voice Howie Rose that the Mets would not be calling up Alonso this season "no matter what,"
