The Mets released RHP Marcos Molina on Wednesday in order to make room on the 40-man roster for OF Matt den Dekker.
Molina, who was with Double-A Binghamton, landed on the DL on July 4 after struggling mightily this season. He posted a 6.94 ERA in 81 2/3 innings between 14 starts with Double-A Binghamton and two starts with Triple-A Las Vegas.
The Mets signed Molina in 2012 and he went on to pitch well with Single-A Brooklyn, posting a 1.78 ERA in 76 innings, but would later fall victim to Tommy John surgery
In 82 career games in the Mets' minor league system, including 72 starts, Molina posted a 4.55 ERA and 1.795 WHIP.
