The Angels claimed RHP Hansel Robles on Saturday, just one day after he was designated for assignment by the Mets.
Robles was optioned by the Angels to Triple-A Salt Lake.
In his final appearance with the Mets, Robles allowed two runs on three hits in 1 2/3 innings in the Mets' 10-8 loss to the Rockies on June 19.
"We've seen him pitch well. We've seen him pitch less-well," Mets GM Sandy Alderson said about Robles. Mets manager Mickey Callaway said he "kept in seeing the same thing. ... the results just weren't coming."
The 27-year-old Robles posted a 5.03 ERA (7.05 FIP) and 1.57 WHIP in 19.2 innings (16 games) for the Mets this season. He allowed seven home runs.
Robles also struggled last season, with a 4.92 ERA (5.13 FIIP) and 1.34 WHIP in 56.2 innings (46 appearances).
