Mets Triple-A Manager Tony DeFrancesco said RHP Jamie Callahan will undergo surgery on his shoulder, reports Betsy Helfand of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Callahan, who is on the 40-man roster, has yet to play this season. He allowed five earned runs on 11 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings during spring training this season before he was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on March 13.
Callahan landed on the seven-day disabled list on April 22.
The Mets acquired Callahan, Stephen Nogosek, and Gerson Bautista on July 31 of last season in a trade with the Red Sox. The Mets gave up Addison Reed in that trade.
Callahan made his major league debut against the Astro on Sept. 2 of last season and made nine appearances for the Mets.
