The Mets sent 10 players to minor league camp on Tuesday morning, leaving 34 players in major league camp.
Infielders Gavin Cecchini and Luis Guillorme were optioned, with OF Matt den Dekker, C Jose Lobaton, RHPs Drew Smith, A.J. Griffin, and Corey Taylor, LHPs Matt Purke and P.J. Conlon, and infielder Ty Kelly re-assigned.
Aside from Purke, who was being considered as a second left-hander in the bullpen to complement Jerry Blevins, none of the players who were sent down on Tuesday were thought to have a chance to make the Opening Day roster.
The Mets wrap their spring training schedule this coming Monday, with Opening Day on Thursday, March 29 at Citi Field against the Cardinals.
