The Mets have agreed to sign reliever Brad Brach, SNY's Andy Martino confirmed.

Brach's deal will be for one year and $850,000 and also contains a player option for 2021 that is worth $1.25 million, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Brach, Chris Flexen was designated for assignment.

Brach signed with the Mets this past August after being DFA'd by the Cubs and pitched well, with a 3.68 ERA (2.67 FIP) and 1.22 WHIP with 15 strikeouts in 14.2 IP (16 appearances) while allowing one home run.

He had struggled earlier in the season with Chicago in the lead-up to being DFA'd, but was one of the more reliable relievers in baseball from 2012 to 2018, when he had a 3.05 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 471 strikeouts in 449 IP with the Padres, Orioles, and Braves.

With Brach back in the fold, the Mets currently have six pitchers who would likely be guaranteed spots in the 2020 bullpen: Edwin Diaz, Seth Lugo, Jeurys Familia, Justin Wilson, Robert Gsellman, and Brach.

The above could change if someone is traded or moved to the rotation (with Lugo and Gsellman possibilities to shift).

No matter what happens, the Mets should be looking to add two more relievers before the season begins. Among the relievers still available on the free agent market are Dellin Betances, Blake Treinen, Joe Smith, and Will Harris.
