The non-waiver trade deadline has passed, and the Mets did not make any moves.
After trading Jeurys Familia and Asdrubal Cabrera last week, the Mets were open to dealing Zack Wheeler, Wilmer Flores, Jose Bautista, and Devin Mesoraco, with the latter two also candidates to be dealt through waivers in August.
As far as Wheeler, the Mets hadn't been getting offers they deemed acceptable, with teams looking to pay for what Wheeler's full history is and the Mets placing a greater emphasis on Wheeler's 2018 season and the value he currently has, SNY's Andy Martino had reported.
Martino reported Monday night that the Mets had been discussing a potential deal that would involve Bautista, but he is staying put for now.
Wheeler and Flores are under team control through 2019, while Bautista and Mesoraco will be free agents after this season.
The Mets made several trades through waivers last August -- including trading Jay Bruce to the Indians -- so deals could still go down between now and August 31.
