4 things to know from Saturday's game...
1) Marcus Stroman got the ball and pitched a solid first inning, allowing a hit but striking out both Paul Goldschmidt and Yadier Molina. But Tyler O'Neill led off the second with a home run to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. Stroman got Tommy Edman to ground out on a comebacker, but after a walk and a single, Stroman's day was done after 1 1/3 innings pitched.
2) J.D. Davis picked up a hit in his first at-bat of the spring, a line-drive double to right in the top of the first. He finished the game 1-for-2.
3) Of the other Mets regulars to make the trip to Jupiter, Amed Rosario, Brandon Nimmo, Dom Smith and Rene Rivera combined to go 0-for-8 with a walk. Rivera earned a base on balls in the fifth inning.
4) Five Mets pitchers combined to keep the Cardinals at bay after Stroman came out of the game. Stephen Villines completed the second inning, while Stephen Gonsalves, Pedro Payano, Matt Blackham and Chasen Shreve pitched the remaining six innings, with just Shreve allowing the Cardinals' final run.
Steven Matz makes his spring debut on Sunday at 1:10 p.m. as the Mets host the Cardinals at Clover Park.
