Mets captain David Wright, COO Jeff Wilpon, and assistant GM John Ricco will hold a press conference at Citi Field on Thursday at 1:45 p.m. to "discuss the plan and timeline concerning David Wright for the remainder of the season."
The press conference will air live on SNY.
Wright played in a simulated game on Tuesday, saying after that his goal remained to return this season.
"They certainly know where I stand," Wright said. "The goal coming into this week was two simulated games. ... We'll see where the conversation takes us and hopefully work something out."
Wright also played in a simulated game on Saturday.
The 35-year-old added that he wanted to make it through Tuesday, see how he feels Wednesday, and then come up with a gameplan.
Wright noted that his rhythm and timing is still off but said it got better toward the end of Tuesday's simulated game. The biggest thing, he added, is how his body responds, with the second-biggest thing being results.
"My short term goal is to get back on the field and I think that is within reach," Wright said.
Wright, who has not played in the majors since 2016, played 12 rehab games between Single-A St. Lucie and Triple-A Las Vegas. He joined the team following the rehab assignment.
Following his simulated game on Saturday, Wright sought to dispel any notion that there are issues between him and the team pertaining to the timetable of his potential return this season.
"The last thing I want to portray is there some sort of rift between the Mets and me," said Wright. "That's false. There's been communication and I know where they stand and they know where I stand. The communication especially recently has been fantastic and I look forward to meeting with Jeff in the next couple of days and formulating a game plan from here until the end of September."
Wright has a career .296 batting average to go along with 242 home runs and 970 RBI in parts of 13 seasons with the Mets.
