Buster Posey had a two-run single in the first and Denard Span a two-run triple in the third as San Francisco qualified for the NL wild card playoff game with a 7-1 win over the Dodgers Sunday in San Francisco.
The Giants will travel to New York to meet the Mets Wednesday in the one-game playoff at a time to be determined. Matt Moore allowed one run in eight innings to get the win for San Francisco.
On Wednesday, Noah Syndergaard (14-9, 2.60) will face Madison Bumgarner (15-9, 2.74) in a matchup of the league's two best pitchers. Bumgarner has two wins over the Mets this season. He dominated them in May in a 6-1 win at Citi Field, then struggled but survived in a 10-7 win in San Francisco Aug. 18.
Bumgarner is4-0 with a 0.62 ERA lifetime at Citi Field and 5-1 with a 0.91 ERA overall in the playoffs.
The Mets won the season series, 4-3. They took two of three at Citi Field in the spring and the teams split a four-game series in August at AT&T Park.
