Rain postponed Monday's game between theNew York Mets and Cardinals at Citi Field.
The teams will play a single-admission doubleheader today beginning at 4:10 p.m. ET, with the second game beginning approximately 30 minutes after the first game ends.
According to Mets.com: "Fans holding tickets for Monday's game cannot use them for today's doubleheader, unless they exchange them in person at the Citi Field ticket windows. Fans may also exchange them for tickets to any other regular-season home game, pending availability, and excepting July 30 against the Rockies and Aug. 1-2 against the Yankees."
Noah Syndergaard, who was scheduled to start Monday, will pitch against RHP Carlos Martinez in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader, while Bartolo Colon and Jaime Garcia will start Game 2.
The wrinkle here could be that the Mets end up needing a spot starter this weekend when they host the Rockies. My hunch is they'll lean on Seth Lugo, who has done a terrific job in the bullpen since being promoted a few weeks ago. Or, they could leave him where he has, because he's been on such a role, and call up someone from Triple-A, such as RHP prospect Gabriel Ynoa, who the NY Post's Mike Puma recently said was on deck if the team is this sort of situation.
