The Mets do not appear to be involved in talks for Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick (July 29, 2:10 pm).
Newsday's Marc Carig reported the same earlier this week (July 28, 2015).
In the wake of dealing Troy Tulowitzki to the Jays, a GM with interest told CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman that the Rockies also plan to deal Gonzalez (July 28, 9:17 am). However, a source familiar with their thinking later told Crasnick the Rockies are more likely to trade Gonzalez this winter, (July 28, 3:54 pm).
The Mets, Angels, Royals, Cubs and Orioles have all reportedly been working to acquire a middle-of-the-order outfielder this summer, leading to rumors about Gonzalez.
Gonzalez has 10 HR, 23 RBI, a .405 batting average and a 1.328 OPS in July. He is due roughly $7-8 million the rest of this season and another $37 million through 2017.
