The Mets have not decided whether to pursue free-agent reliever Joel Hanrahan (Daily News, Apr. 25).

The New York Post reported something similar earlier in the week (NY Post, Apr. 21).

The Mets were among the 18-20 teams that watched Hanrahan throw a showcase in April (Heyman, April 17), during which his velocity was between 87-93 mph.

According to multiple reports, Hanrahan is progressing in his rehab from Tommy John and flexor tendon surgery and expected to be ready to pitch in late May.

It was reported last week that teams have started negotiating with Hanrahan (Cafardo, April 17), though so far he remains a free agent.

Hanrahan, 32, entered last season with 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings during the previous five years. He had been hitting 90-92 mph during his rehab toward the end of last summer (Rosenthal, Mar. 14).
