Now Commenting On:

It was reported last month that Terry Collins' job was likely safe heading into 2015. Lately, there has been 'genuine internal debate' and 'uncertainty' regarding what will happen with Collins (Martino, September 4).

One Mets source told Andy Martino that there is "a ways to go" before the Mets decide whether or not to bring Collins back for 2015.

Writes Martino in the Daily News:

"The manager has his backers in the organization, and he has his detractors; both sides seem still to be discussing the future. I still believe that there is a slight lean toward the status quo, but also that the atypical lack of clarity is telling. In other words: It should be an interesting month."

Collins, 65, was hired prior to the 2011 season. During his tenure, the Mets went 77-85 in 2011 and finished with a record of 74-88 in both 2012 and 2013. So far in 2014, the Mets have gone 66-74.

Collins is under contract for 2015 and the Mets hold a team option for 2016.
