The New York Mets have avoided arbitration with 2B Neil Walker and agreed on a one-year deal worth $10.55 million (Mets, Jan. 29).
Walker, 30, was acquired by the Mets from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Jon Niese earlier this offseason.
Last season he hit .269 with 16 home runs and 71 RBI.
Walker is due to become a free agent at the end of this season.
Jeurys Familia is now the only remaining arbitration-eligible player with whom the Mets have not come to an agreement with.
