This week in our offseason entertainment, we had quite some movement in terms of baseball. There's now a coaching staff, which is huge. Now, we just need a big bat, a reliever, an outfielder who can also play first base, etc etc.
Off the field, however, the Mets also kept us entertained. No, it was not another weekend of love like last weekend was with Travis d'Arnaud, Brandon Nimmo, and Mickey Jannis all walking down the aisle. But, weddings did come up this week.
Steven Matz. We all know he's engaged and getting married soon. On WOR this week when asked about which teammates he felt obligated to invite to the wedding, his response gave away two of his groomsmen, but was also a bit vague.
"DeGrom is in the wedding and Nimmo is in the wedding as well, so we'll leave it at that."
Well then. Guess that's another wedding we'll all be stalking on social media in the near future.
David Wright was back in the news this week, for being inducted into the MLB Arizona Fall League Hall of Fame. Congratulations, David! But one thing I wanted to point out was the picture of him on the plaque. It, uh, is quite an interesting portrait of The Captain, I'll just leave it at that.
Evidently, Mets pitchers cutting their luscious locks is now a thing - Kevin McGowan has followed in deGrom's footsteps, as seen below. But, for McGowan, growing his hair out was intentional, because he wanted to donate it. Because of him, over a foot of hair has been donated to Pantene's Program, which provides free wigs made from real hair to people battling cancer. As much as we admired the hair, McGowan, this is so great of you.
Jerry Blevins stirred things up by tweeting out his baseball movie rankings, where he ranked Field of Dreams dead last. This ranking resulted in hundreds of responses, as you can imagine.
