Now Commenting On:

The Mets will stick with their current roster construction after the All-Star break, Terry Collins said on Sunday (ESPN, July 13).

The team currently has six outfielders on the roster and no backup shortstop. Eric Campbell started at second base on Sunday, in place of All-Star Daniel Murphy.

Ruben Tejada has started 19 games in a row at shortstop for the Mets, and has hit .266 with a .382 OBP. He has just one double and has driven in five runs. He has 10 walks, two intentional walks and struck out 12 times.

Meanwhile, Wilmer Flores, demoted to Triple-A in late June, is hitting .356 with a .380 on base percentage and .726 slugging percentage in 18 games. He has six doubles, seven home runs and 28 RBI in just 73 at bats.
