Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes -- rehabbing his groin/hip issue -- was supposed to be with the team in Miami for the beginning of their series on Friday night, but those plans changed.

Manager Mickey Callaway said that change was made because the Mets didn't want to disrupt Cespedes' rehab by having him with the Mets instead of St. Lucie.

Cespedes is doing nothing but physical therapy at this point, so it's not clear exactly what the Mets would be interrupting by having him with their training staff and around his teammates instead of the staff in St. Lucie.

It's been one week since the team announced Cespedes would not run or do baseball activities until he's symptom-free, with then-GM Sandy Alderson saying Cespedes' health issue was a chronic one.

The 32-year-old Cespedes has been out since May 14, when he suffered a mild strain of his right hip flexor -- the hip that Alderson said is a chronic issue.

He played two rehab games with Binghamton earlier this month before suffering a setback.

Cespedes is hitting .255/.316/.474 with eight home runs and 28 RBI in 37 games this season.
