Robert Brender: Did you work on being more patient at the plate this past off-season?
Lucas Duda: Well, I think that's always been me as a hitter. I try to be selectively aggressive, although sometimes it doesn't work out that way. I try to get myself in a positive count and put the barrel of the bat on the ball.
Robert Brender: How do you balance being aggressive and selective?
Lucas Duda: The game and the situation will dictate it to me that particular at bat and what I'm trying to accomplish. If there are runners in scoring position it's going to change from when there was nobody on with no outs.
Robert Brender: Has moving up in the batting order made an difference for you?
Lucas Duda: No, not at all. No. As long as I'm in the lineup, that's all that matters.
Robert Brender: Do you try to get on base by drawing more walks?
Lucas Duda: Not really, man. I'm not looking to walk. I'm looking to hit. I think walking is by-product of my approach.
Robert Brender: What does this team need to do to turn things around?
Lucas Duda: We need to hit. That's how you win ballgames. We're just going through a rough stretch right now and that's gonna happen. We'll continue to play hard and take it game by game.
