Mets outfielder Michael Conforto is batting eighth on Thursday for the first time since 2016 as the Mets face the Giants and left-hander Madison Bumgarner.
Conforto has arguably been the Mets' best hitter since the All-Star break, hitting .287/.360/.516 with seven homers and seven doubles in 32 games (122 at-bats)
He has hits in each of his last three games, including a homer on Tuesday night.
The 25-year-old Conforto returned from shoulder surgery earlier than expected and was slow out of the gate, but as his numbers since the All-Star break show, has started to regain the form that made him a rookie sensation in 2015 and All-Star in 2017.
