Mets OF Michael Conforto is back in the lineup Wednesday night after being scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to a thumb issue.
He said on Tuesday that the thumb was a little sore and that he alerted the team Monday night and treated it with ice.
Conforto's thumb was examined by a doctor on Tuesday, with the doctor noting that everything looked okay with the thumb and saying it was an issue of overuse that resulted in inflammation, Conforto said.
The team also had Conforto take an X-ray, where "everything looked good," said Conforto, who added that he doesn't believe he's going for any more tests on the thumb.
Conforto, who said the issue first started bothering him a few days ago, expected to be back in the lineup on Wednesday night.
"I felt fine to play," he said, "but I guess they're just being careful."
The 24-year-old Conforto is hitting .278 with a .385 OBP and .559 SLG with 27 HR, 20 doubles, and 66 RBI in 107 games this season.
