Prior to the start of the Met's three-game set with he San Francisco Giants, manager Mickey Callaway offered a few injury updates.
Callaway said this afternoon that an MRI revealed that Dominic Smith has a sprained thumb, though the left-handed hitter should be available to come off the bench on Tuesday.
As for outfielder Brandon Nimmo, Callaway explained that he's been "progressing really well" and that he was participating in full baseball activities on Tuesday. Nimmo was placed on the Injured List on May 22nd with neck stiffness.
There had been a thought that Robinson Cano (left quad strain) could be activated on Tuesday. Callaway said that isn't the case, though Cano 'is progressing nicely."
Meanwhile, Jed Lowrie (sprained knee capsule) is "still a ways away, still in Florida just doing his thing," Callaway said.
The Mets did get some relief from the injury bug on Tuesday by officially activating Jeff McNeil, who's set to leadoff for the Mets tonight against Madison Bumgarner.
