During the day, this place is buzzing with dozens of players, coaches, media members and fans. On Thursday, with the early intrasquad game and the threat of rain, it cleared out by the late afternoon. I took a walk around the complex to warm up from the chilly air conditioning in the media room (sorry, readers back in New York), and made my way back to Tradition Field, where the outfield gate was open.

I took a few steps over the foul line and onto the outfield grass. I haven't played organized baseball since I was hitting off a tee, but it's still feels pretty cool to stand on the field, especially in a real stadium. It was surreal to see this place so quiet, with the overcast skies and slight breeze blowing through the palm trees, and not a soul to be seen or heard...
