Now Commenting On:

A+: St. Lucie Mets 6, @ Charlotte Stone Crabs 4

Have a day, Rafael Fernandez. The 21-year old OF (pictured) was 4-5 with a double, two home runs and three RBI.  The two homers matched his entire longball output with Savannah in 45 games.  In 57 games between the two a-ball levels, Fernandez is hitting .276/.323/.406 with 15 walks and 63 strikeouts.

SS Wilmer Flores (.376/.391/.471) followed up his 15-game hitting streak with his second straight 0-5.  Combining his work with Savannah with his time in St. Lucie, he's sitting at .301/.353/.442 overall at age 18.

3B Richard Lucas (.206/.280/.348), who we discussed over the weekend, was 2-4, his third straight game with a hit.

Twice on Monday, the Gnats took two run leads into the bottom of ninth, and twice the Tourists tied the game and won it with two outs.  Michael Powers was the culprit in game one, while Brandon Sage was the victim in game two.

On a happier note, Jefry Marte had two hits in each game and now owns an eight-game hitting streak.  The 19-year old is up to .354/.404/.667 in 12 games in July.

SS Wilfredo Tovar also had two hits in both games, including three doubles. In 19 games with Savannah, the 18-year old Tovar is raking along at a .354/.408/.446 clip with six doubles, five walks and five strikeouts.

LHP Jimmy Fuller tossed four inning in game two.  It was his first appearance in two and half weeks after being sideline briefly by some impingement in his elbow.
