The Bisons scored five runs in the seventh and eighth innings to turn a 4-4 tie into a 9-4 lead only to watch Rochester get close with two runs in the bottom of the ninth.
- Fernando Martinez (.254/.325/.413) was 1-4 with a homerun, but was removed once the Bisons took the lead in the seventh.
- Mike Baxter (pictured) was 2-5 with two triples, and notably, played centerfield. It was the second time in three games Baxter has played center for the Bisons. Prior to Saturday, the last time he had last played center was 2009, when he played 13 games in the middle of the outfield with AAA Portland. He had also played 23 games in center in 2007 with the advanced-A Lake Elsinore Storm. Just when I thought it was an exclusively odd-numbered years phenomenon, it turns out he played five games in center for the Fort Wayne Wizards in the Midwest League in 2006. That's it. That's Baxter's whole professional resume - 41 games- in center. Entering 2011, he had played 441 games on the corners, 374 in right. If Baxter can play a credible center field, his value increases tremendously. Even if it's good enough to back up the position, that would help too.
- Also, Nick Evans isn't dead, he's just hitting in AAA where he was 2-5 with a bomb. The 25-year old has hit .318/.375/.473 in 61 games in AAA this year.
