Mookie Wilson reminisces about his playing days and what it takes to survive the 162-game grind.
"When I was playing it was a lot easier to stay in shape because the team dictated a lot of what you did, the foods that you ate and the way you traveled. Repetition is very important and it's why most ball players have routines, routines that are important to them for two reasons, for the body and also mentally you are prepared to do what needs to be done."
"At some point you need to give your mind and your body a chance to relax. I would go home after a night game and do something that didn't involve baseball. It is a grind physically and mentally so it takes a strong person to survive in this game."
Wilson played over 1400 major league games, had nearly 1400 hits and 327 stolen bases.
