The MRI on Mets 1B Dominic Smith's strained right quad came back "OK," manager Mickey Callaway told reporters after Monday's game.
Smith remains day-to-day.
"It definitely sucks, but it's part of the game," Smith said on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Smith just returned to the Mets' lineup on Saturday after Callaway benched him Friday for showing up late to a team meeting. He went 1-or-1 with two runs scored.
"We had a private conversation and we both came to a clear understanding," Smith said about talking with Callaway about the benching. "Like I said, stuff like yesterday, it's in the past and today's a new day."
As of now, Smith is expected to start the season in Triple-A, with veteran Adrian Gonzalez expected to be the starting first baseman in the majors.
