In regards to when he thinks he'll be promoted, Syndergaard said, "I hear New York is nice in July."
He also said he looks forward to learning from Matt Harvey, that Roy Halladay was his favorite pitcher when he was growing up and he hopes to wear No. 34 when he makes the 25-man roster.
Syndergaard was recently named the league's third-best right-handed pitching prospect on MLB.com’s Top 100 Prospect List.
“Syndergaard is a classic power right-hander and uses his big frame to throw downhill and induce ground balls,” according to the list's authors, Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo. “His fastball regularly reaches 98 mph and runs inside on right-handed hitters. His 12-to-6 curveball is his best secondary pitch, though his change-up has the potential to be a third plus pitch in his arsenal.”
