- LHP Eric Niesen is out with a strained oblique. It's questionable whether he'll throw again in the AFL.
- Mets Pitching Coach Dan Warthen and Rehab Pitching Coordinator Guy Conti are in town to watch the youngsters throw this week.
- I sat down with Josh Stinson and Scott Moviel. I'll publish excerpts of those interviews this week.
-From Monday's game:
Ike Davis (.339/.364/.581) was 2-4, and stung a line drive over the shortstop's head and a second one into rightfield. On the ball he hit the other way to left, he looked like he might have been a little fooled, but still made good contact the other way.
Josh Stinson (pictured) was awfully wild, walking two and giving up a single. His fastball sat at 91 mph, and he showed a four-pitch mix with a curve, slider (79 mph) and changeup (84). He picked up the first out of the inning with a swing and a miss over a slider. After loading the bases, he escaped when Ruben Tejada initiated a double play by deflecting a hard hit ball at him with his foot, barehanding the ball out of the air, and firing to second.
