Now Commenting On:

I learned about a game David Wright, Curtis Granderson, Ike Davis, Travis d'Arnaud, Chris Young and Lucas Duda were playing during batting practice yesterday.

"It's a good way to help us work on different situations during the game," Granderson explained to me.

He says the group and hitting coach agree on a situation, such as, 'Runner on second, two out," or, "Runner on first, no outs," after which they start to hit with an objective. Base hits are one point, outs are negative one point. There are two goals, to score the most points, with bonus points for how many hits you can get in a row...

The guys really get in to it. It seems like they play for who pays for dinner, or something to that effect, but in either case they're fairly passionate about it, with some slamming helmets and all while goofing on one another the entire time...

By the way, I filmed an episode of Riding Shotgun with Granderson on Sunday, which we expect to air in March. I think it came out really well, especially the first few minutes when he stopped to sign autographs through the window for 10 minutes. It was pretty fun getting to see that experience from on the inside. I hope everyone enjoys it... stay tuned...
