As both Neil Walker and Jay Bruce remain unsigned, Marc Carig of Newsday says it's "unlikely" that either return to the Mets though won't rule it out.
"I wouldn't rule out anything… it's been a weird offseason," Carig said on The 7 Line's Orange and Blue Thing. "It's almost January and there's still five-win players on the board still, like, what is going on?"
Carig referenced an article he wrote about Walker being irked that he got caught in a public debacle around his potential trade to the Yankees, as his medical reports were being discussed.
"Whether information was leaked or whatever the case may be, I don't know where things went wrong," Walker said, via Carig's article. "I'm here, I'm happy to be a Met right now. But to hear that I'm not healthy enough to be traded but I'm healthy enough to be in the lineup every day is a bit confusing. I don't know where things got lost."
Bruce was traded to the Indians during the 2017 season and there have been reports that the Mets are interested in bringing him back to New York.
