Now Commenting On:

This morning, in an earlier post, I said the Royals have shown interest in R.A. Dickey, but they prefer Jon Niese.

Last night on MetsBlog Radio, which you can listen to here, I said the Royals will give top hitting prospect Wil Myers to the Mets, only if Sandy Alderson parts with Zack Wheeler in addition to Niese << click to tweet this.

Today, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin takes it a step further, saying on Twitter, "The Royals actually talked to the Mets more about Niese and Wheeler in trade variations involving Myers - not Dickey." However, he adds, "It's not happening."

Good. I'm all for Myers, but not at the expense of Niese, and I'm pretty sure Sandy Alderson would agree. That trade makes zero sense, even if the Royals add to the deal. However, it gives a bit of insight in to how much Kansas City appreciates their top hitting prospect, who is also being pursued by the Rays.
