Broxton, 28, is 1-1 with a 1.99 ERA with 21 saves and 23 strikeouts in 31 innings this season. He went just 1-2 with a 5.68 ERA in 12 1/3 innings in 2011 after dealing with what the Dodgers called a bruised right elbow.
He signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Royals last November.

He is back to being the quality closer he was from 2006-2009, although he isn't striking batters out at the rate he once did - he has a career low 6.5 strikeouts per nine innings this season. Still, his fastball mostly sits in the mid 90s and he compliments that with a high 80s slider. He is also stranding runners on base 82 percent of the time - that is an area where the Mets could improve as well.
