“I really believe all that time he was sitting on that bench didn’t sit with him very good,” manager Terry Collins said earlier this week in Miami. “When he got his chance, he made the most of it, which you’d always hope they do."
Tejada began the season as a bench player, but he has started 21 of the team's last 23 games, during which the Mets are 15-8.
"He’s played very well. He’s played well defensively and come up with big hits," Collins concluded.
