Now Commenting On:

The Mets entered play Monday two games below .500, on the heels of back-to-back 74-win seasons, yet Sandy Alderson told reporters at Yankee Stadium that his manager, Terry Collins, "has done an excellent job."

Collins and his team later won, 9-7 over the Yankees.

"First and foremost, he keeps our players motivated," Alderson said about Collins. "We talk a lot about the fact that it's a long season, and getting the most out of our players is probably the most important leadership issue that a manager faces. We can all disagree from time to time on field strategy. That happens. It's human nature."

This past winter, Collins signed a two-year contract extension with a team option for 2016.
