Now Commenting On:

MLB commissioner Bud Selig has confidence in the Mets ownership and management, he told reporters in Denver (Star-Ledger, May 3).

This past spring, MLBPA union chief Tony Clark said the player’s union is aware of the decrease in spending by the Mets on player salaries compared to a few years ago and they are keeping a watchful eye.

"I have a lot of faith in not only the Wilpons but Sandy Alderson," Selig said (Bergen Record, May 3). "I am not the least bit concerned about the Mets ability to compete at the major league level."

Selig said he recently talked with Sandy Alderson, who gave assurances that young talent from the farm system is finally ready to help the Mets at the big-league level (Star-Ledger, May 3).
