Mets 1B Dominic Smith said he is looking forward to coming back stronger and more consistent in 2018 and that it's been "a blast" playing alongside SS Amed Rosario, who he said is his best friend on the team.
Smith, speaking during a Q&A with fans from the Mets' Twitter account, also answered lots of off-beat questions.
He wouldn't weigh in on the "feud" between Noah Syndergaard and Mr. Met -- instead pleading the fifth -- but said Jacob deGrom had the best hair on the team -- beating out Syndergaard and Robert Gsellman.
Smith noted that Dellin Betances of the Yankees is the toughest pitcher he's faced and that Yankee Stadium -- because of the short porch in right field -- is his favorite road ballpark to play in.
The 22-year-old Smith of course weighed in on one of the most-asked questions during these chats: Is a hot dog a sandwich? Smith said it could be, but that he didn't consider it one.
Smith, who made his major league debut last month, is hitting .203/.250/.379 with seven HR, six doubles, and 22 RBI in 44 games (153 at-bats) this season.
