RHP John Maine and LHP Oliver Perez have been added to the St. Lucie Mets roster on their MLB rehab assignments. Both are expected to throw tonight.
1B Ike Davis has been promoted to AA Binghamton. Davis leaves the FSL a .290/.378/.489 hitter after 58 games and 221 AB. Davis was leading the FSL with 27 extra base hits. He's hit well all season, but was on a tear in June, hitting .319/.418/.638 in 13 games with four of his seven professional homers.
The one blemish on Davis' time in the FSL was his struggle against LHP. He hit .200/.234/.283 in 60 AB against lefties and .323/.426/.565 against RHP in 161 AB. However, last year with Brooklyn, Davis actually hit lefties (.317/.369/.383 in 60 AB) much better than he hit righties (.232/.310/.303 in 155 AB). I am still searching for his L/R splits from college at ASU.
SS Reese Havens has been activated from the DL. Havens was hitting .228/.343/.413 when he hit the DL at the end of May with a strained quad. He'd hit .275/.352/.525 in April with four homers, six doubles and 10 walks, but .184/.336/.310 in May with three homers, two doubles and 17 walks. In each month he struck out 15 times. So, he lost a bunch of singles and a couple of doubles in May. I'm not too worried about that.
RHP Jake Ruckle and Emary Frederick have been returned from AA Binghamton. C Jordan Abruzzo has been added to the roster from Extended Spring Training.
4:35 Update: Adam Rubin reports that CF Carlos Beltran is headed to the DL to be replaced by Fernando Martinez. Replacing an injured player is the only loophole that would permit Martinez to return to the big leagues so soon after being optioned to AAA. LHP Pat Misch will replace Ken Takahashi.
