Yesterday, Ted suggested trying him in the bullpen, reasoning, "Middling starters often turn into very effective relievers. And though Schwinden doesn’t have the type of stuff typically associated with late-inning bullpen roles, he appears apt to get the ball over the plate — more than many members of the Mets’ current bullpen can boast."
I don't see Schwinden in the bullpen where I'd like house guys with a plus big league pitch or two, but not enough command to be starters. Schwinden is the reverse: command, but no plus pitch.

CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis was very good, hitting .298/.403/.505 with 14 homers, but played only 53 games once a shoulder injury ended his season early.
Same problem for Zach Lutz who hit .295/.380/.500, but played in just 61 contests with a hamstring injury, a broken finger and then concussion-related problems.
