Mets LHP Steven Matz has been nominated for the 2017 Marvin Miller Man of the Year award, reports Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
Players on each team nominate one of their teammates for the award, which is presented to a player based on community work and on-field performance.
Last season Matz created his "Tru 32" ticket program, which gave first responders an opportunity to meet Matz in person, land his autograph, and receive free tickets to a home game.
The 26-year-oldd went 2-7 with a 6.08 ERA in 13 starts for the Mets this season. Last month he underwent successful surgery on the ulnar nerve in his left elbow.
