The Mets (71-68, 15.0 GB in NL East, 5.0 GB for second Wild Card) return to Citi Field for their 10-game homestand Friday as they face the Philadelphia Phillies (72-67, 14.0 GB in NL East, 4.0 GB for second Wild Card) at 7:10 p.m. on SNY.
The Mets come home on the heels of their six-game road trip last Friday through Wednesday, in which they went 4-2 with series wins over the Phillies and Washington Nationals. Last time out, the Mets answered after an 11-10 walk-off loss Tuesday with a 4-1 rebound victory Wednesday. After they took both of the three-game sets, the Mets have won 12 of their last 16 series since the All-Star break, going 31-18 dating back to July 12.
The second-longest hitting streak in Mets history ended Wednesday when C Wilson Ramos went 0 for 4 with a walk, but his numbers on the year (.295/.357/.424, 13 home runs, 67 RBI) and since Aug. 3 (.413/.440/.567, three home runs, 18 RBI) remain among the lineup's best. Speaking of milestones, 3B Todd Frazier walked in a pinch-hit plate appearance during Wednesday's game, keeping the third baseman one hit away from 1,000 career knocks. In his past seven games, he has posted a .364 batting average (8 for 22) with two home runs and eight RBI.
Across the infield, 2B Robinson Cano played Wednesday for the first time since Aug. 4 and did not miss a beat, going 3 for 3 with 2 RBI -- including a two-run home run -- in his first game back from the 10-day injured list due to a torn hamstring. Before Cano's injury, he had four straight multihit games Aug. 1-4, going 9 for 15 with a home run and three RBI.

Who is starting for the Mets?
A constant as of late for the Mets' inconsistent rotation, LHP Steven Matz (9-8, 4.04 ERA) is 3-1 in his past five starts, striking out 31 while walking seven and pitching to a 2.10 ERA. He pitched last Saturday against the Phillies, clinching the Mets' series win at Citizens Bank Park with three runs (two earned) on seven hits and six strikeouts to one walk in 5.0 innings.
Who is starting for the Phillies?
After a series loss to the Mets and a four-game split with the Reds in Cincinnati, the Phillies start RHP Zach Eflin (8-11, 4.33 ERA), whose three-hit outing Sunday fueled Philadelphia past New York. Eflin allowed one run on a first-inning solo shot to 1B Pete Alonso but otherwise mowed the Mets down, despite striking out only three, walking just one while throwing 84 pitches in 7.0 innings.
The Mets continue their three-game series Saturday against the Phillies, sending RHP Marcus Stroman (7-12, 3.28 ERA) to the mound vs. LHP Drew Smyly (3-6, 6.65 ERA) at 7:10 p.m. on SNY.
