Right-hander Collin McHugh (pictured) pitched well for the second straight outing, lifting the 51s to a 4-3 win Sunday afternoon at Cashman Field. The Covington, Georgia native nearly duplicated his seven shutout inning performance from five days ago, giving up a single run in seven strong today. As has generally been the case all season, McHugh (3-2) had excellent control, walking just one batter and throwing 64 strikes in his 100 pitch outing. In 49.1 innings this year, he's issued just nine free passes while striking out 36, pitching to a 2.74 era.
In an effort to remain consistent, the bullpen did it's best to blow a three run 9th inning lead. LHP Sean Henn gave up a pair of runs but stranded the tying run at 2nd base, preserving the victory. Vegas relievers have combined to surrender 84 earned runs in 128 innings.
Catcher Juan Centeno has been great since getting called up from Binghamton April 18. Including his 1 for 3 2 rbi performance Sunday, Centeno is batting .324 (11 for 34) in 11 games, with six driven in.
Wilmer Flores, who played 1b today, doubled to open up a three run 4th inning for the 51s. It's his 12th two-bagger of the season. He's now hit safely in five straight and 10 of his last 12 games.
