Mets outfielder Tim Tebow is among nine players invited to major league spring training, the team announced Friday.
Tebow, 30, who joined the Mets organization in 2016, played 126 games with Low-A Columbia and High-A St. Lucie last season, recording a combined batting line of .226/.309/.347 with eight home runs, 52 RBIs and 126 strikeouts in 126 games. He played in the Arizona Fall League in 2016 but not in 2017.
New York also invited designated hitter Peter Alonso, LHP P.J. Conlon, right fielder Kevin Kaczmarski; designated hitter Patrick Mazeika, RHP Drew Smith, RHP Corey Taylor, third baseman David Thompson and RHP Adonis Uceta.
Alonso is the highest-rated Mets prospect among the nine invitees, as Baseball America ranked him fourth in the organization.
