“Obviously it would be a tremendous honor," Wright told Rubin. "I would take it very seriously and humbly."
In either case, Collins said a decision will not be made before Wright leaves for the World Baseball Classic on Friday.
My, god, man, just do it already. It really doesn't matter either way. I mean, I'm for it because I think it looks cool and I think it's a nice visual reminder of what is expected of his teammates. But, it's not the end-all, be-all of success, and I'm not going to lose sleep if it doesn't happen. Seriously, we're not selecting a new President or Pope here. What's the worst that can happen?
It seems silly, but I almost want a decision made on this so the discussion finally ends. The thing is, Wright is already this team's captain, this team's leader, and the shining example of what to do and what not to do for his teammates. It makes no difference if they name him the official captain, or if it simply remains understood.
