Now Commenting On:

Mets reliever Scott Rice allowed two runs Sunday and now has a 13.50 ERA.

Terry Collins said last year’s workload may be catching up him.

"A lot of times the next year, when you pitch in that many games for the first time in your life, your arm doesn’t bounce back real fast," Collins said after Sunday's loss (Bergen Record, Apr. 14). "It takes a little time."

Rice pitched in 73 games last season, had a 3.71 ERA, but ended the year early to have surgery for a hernia in September.

According to Collins, Rice is struggling to command his sinker.
