With plenty of work cut out for GM Brodie Van Wagenen ahead of Spring Training, the Mets have entered the New Year actively pursuing free agents for the bullpen, outfield and infield according to SNY's Andy Martino.
Some of the names that have been sifted through include RHP Adam Warren, LHP Justin Wilson and utility players Asdrubal Cabrera and Marwin Gonzalez.
The Mets want to continue to address their depth at bullpen after adding Juerys Familia and trading for Edwin Diaz in December. Warren sported a 3.14 ERA and struck out 52 batters across 51.2 innings for both the Yankees and Mariners last season, while the Cubs' Wilson finished with a 3.46 ERA.
The Mets are still looking to move a catcher, most likely Kevin Plawecki, who has been at the center of trade rumors since they signed Wilson Ramos in December.
Asdrubal Cabrera is a familiar face for New York after spending two and half seasons with the Mets, but was traded to the Phillies in July of last year for pitching prospect Franklyn Kilome. Marwin Gonzalez, a utility player who logged innings at 1B, SS and LF, was a member of the 2017 Astros World Series team.
