AA: Harrisburg Senators [WAS] (15-18) @ Binghamton Mets (17-16) ListenThursday 6:35 ET – RHP Paul Demny (1-4, 5.90) vs. RHP Jacob deGrom (0-3, 4.81)

Paul Demny lost to the B-Mets last Saturday when he allowed 5 rins (2 ER) over 4 IP on 6 hits, 3 BB, and 7 K. He has allowed 38 hits in 29 IP (.317) and struck out 31 while walking 10.

Jacob deGrom lost to Harrisburg last Friday when he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits over 6 IP with 2 BB and 1 K. The biggest change for deGrom in AA has been his Kswing% which was fallen off 5%. This is most likely on tempting pitches out of the zone that A ball hitters could not lay off, leading to a higher walk rate 7.7% and a 12.5% drop in strikeouts. After K:BB ratios of more than 4.5 strikeout per walk over lower levels, he has struck out 14 and walked 8 in 4 AA starts. Its only 4 starts, but he'll need to use his stuff a little differently to find success at this level.

A+: Palm Beach Cardinals [STL] (14-19) @ St. Lucie Mets (21-11) ListenThursday 6:30 ET – LHP Kyle Hald (1-1, 4.99) vs. vs. RHP Noah Syndergaard (1-1, 2.90)

Noah Syndergaard's one previous home start was his one poor start this year, allowing 7 runs in 3 innings. His last three starts have been much better, all on the road, as he has allowed 3 runs (1 ER) over his last 19 IP, striking out 16 and walking 5.

The Palm Beach Cardinals are 6.5 games back of St. Lucie for second in the FSL South.  |In his last start Kyle Hald allowed 6 runs on 10 hits over 3.1 IP.

IF Steve Piscotty leads the PBC offense with a .319/.386/.527 slash and 5 homers.  James Ramsey was hitting .361/.481/.557 and the Cardinals decided it was time for him to try AA, sending him to Springfield five days ago.  Lefty reliever Lee Stoppelman has struck out 17 and walked 5 while putting up a 1.02 ERA and a .177 BAA over 17.2 IP.

A: Rome Braves [ATL] (18-12) @ Savannah Sand Gnats (19-11) ListenThursday 7:05 ET - RHP Rafael Briceno (2-3, 6.49) vs. LHP Steven Matz (1-0, 1.96)

Rafael Briceno has struck out 12 and walked 15 in 26.1 IP (6 starts) His last start was a typical one for him: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 3 K.

Steven Matz was limited to 3 IP in his last start as the game was suspended by rain.  Including that appearance he has struck out 25 and walked 7 in 21.1 IP.  Matz faced Rome in his first two starts of the year totaling 9 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 13 K; putting up his two best strikeout performances with 6 and 7.

AAA: Round Rock Express (19-14) @ Las Vegas 51s (15-16) ListenThursday 10:05 ET – RHP Colby Lewis (NR) vs. RHP Chris Schwinden (2-3, 5.65)

After using two recent call ups from AA to start the last two nights, Round Rock borrows from the big league disabled list tonight as Colby Lewis begins a rehab assignment on his way back from flexor tendon surgery late last July. This is likely a short outing as he is not expected back in the big leagues until around June 1st. Richard Bleier (1-1, 4.02) is the likely long reliever.

In his last start Chris Schwinden limited Sacramento to 2 runs on 8 hits over 5 IP with 1 BB and 5 K. He has limited the opposition to 2 runs three times in his six starts, but only found one win to show for it.
