The Bisons have reached Matt Harvey's spot in the rotation and will borrow Germen from AA. Interesting call to pass over Cohoon and Wheeler and give the Germen the shot at AAA. Todd Redmond is the player Cincinnati acquired in the Paul Janish trade with the Braves.
AA: Portland SeaDogs [BOS] (47-58) @ Binghamton Mets (48-55) 6:35
With Germen going to AAA leaving Binghamton without a starting pitcher, this one was postponed (or it rained, either way). They will play two tomorrow instead.
A+: Lakeland Flying Tigers [DET] (17-15) @ St. Lucie Mets (14-19) 6:30 ET
RHP Shawn Teufel 5-5, 6.13 vs. RHP Erik Goeddel 2-5, 4.09
Tim Teufel's son is finding his third year in a row in the FSL difficult. Erik Goeddel has not won since May, and is up to a 1.57 whip, with 31 BB to go with 60 K. Joe Bonfe was activated to take the roster spot of Cesar Puello.
A: Kannapolis Intimidators (13-19) @ Savannah SandGnats (15-18) 7:05RHP Devenski 5-5, 4.89 vs. LHP Alex Panteliodis 3-5, 3.84
Alex Panteliodis looks to continue the strong starting pitching the Gnats have been getting all year. The Savannah starters are 8-4 in July and haven't lost since last Friday. The Gnats wrap up an eight game homestand tonight, and head to Rome, GA tomorrow.
SSA: Brooklyn Cyclones 7, @ Batavia Muckdogs 1
Luis Mateo (6.2 IP, 6 hits, 1 R, 0 BB, 7 K) continued his stellar NYPL season. His K:BB now sits at an absurd 48:6, with a whip of 0.74
The Cyclones offense scored all their runs in the 8th and 9th, making a winner of Logan Taylor who finished off the 7th for Mateo. Jayce Boyd and Kevin Plawecki each had three hits and two runs scored, and Stefan Sabol had two doubles.
R: Bristol White Sox [CHI-A] (9-21) @ Kingsport Mets (9-22) 6:00
LHP Jefferson Olacio 2-2, 5.19 vs. LHP Steven Matz 1-1, 1.96
RHP Jake Cose 1-3, 6.26 vs. RHP Persio Reyes 1-4, 8.59
The two teams without double digit wins in the Appy league will play two tonight, making up for the July 19th rain out. Matz and Reyes teamed up last Friday for a double header as well. Matz has gone 6 scoreless in each of his last two starts, allowing 8 base runners while striking out 15. 18 year old Dominican Jefferson Olacio is 6'7" 230 lbs.
