Alex Panteliodis, who had been sidelined and delayed by discomfort in his shoulder, made his first start of the year. The big lefty was solid if unexceptional: 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K.
TJ Chism issued a bases-loaded walk to force home the winning run for the Miracle, who are 22-4, six games ahead of St. Lucie at 16-10 in the FSL South.
3B Aderlin Rodriguez was 1-for-1 with two walks doubles his season total to 4 as part of a .194/.226/.357 line in 25 games. He's age-appropriate in the FSL; I expected more although perhaps he's slowing turning the corner after going .263/.326/.395 in his last 10 contests.
A recurring storyline: C Kevin Plawecki was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI to extend his hitting streak to 12 straight games. The double was bounced right inside the thirdbase bag and down the line. It was his league-leading 16th, and maybe his softest hit double of the year. In 25 games, he's up to .406/.464/.698. I discussed this at a little more length yesterday, but at age 22, his bat is pretty clearly ready for advanced-A. A hit tonight would tie him for the longest hitting streak in the SAL this year.
1B Jayce Boyd (.380/.466/.540 - 26 games) doubled home two runs as part of a 2-for-4 night.
Boyd and Plawecki accounted for four of the Gnats' seven hits.
Gabriel Ynoa: 7 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 8 K, 2 HR. The 19-year old gave up some LOUD contact on some elevated offerings, including one of the longest home runs I've seen hit at Historic Grayson Stadium - off the bottom of the video board, roughly two miles away from home plate in right-center. And then he settled down, and faced the minimum 12 batters in his final four innings. Of his eight strikeouts, I have notes that at least four were on sliders, two swinging and two looking. Ynoa throws lots of strikes, which is good. He showed a little ability with his slider which is good. His stuff up in the zone got hit hard, which is less good. An interesting arm.
Daily NimmoNo Nimmo. Brandon Nimmo sat for the second straight night to rest a bruised hand.
